Tuesday, October 8:
Yes, we will be having class. In preparation for Art Incend the first week in November, this class is charged with designing a wayfinding system (look it up if you don't know what this is.) Cassie will be giving you a description of the process and will be leading you to the Visual Arts Building to do a project assessment. Ulimately, this class will be in charge of designing a map and signage for those attending Art Incend. This is called "information design" and is an important part of your design training.
In the meantime, continue working on your accordian fold book. Before our individual meeting next week, you need to have one whole side of the book designed so I can review it. It will be best to decide on a color palette of not more than three colors and use those for your type and other elements on the page other than photos, masked photos, your vector drawing of the object, patterns. Black is best for text, and remember to keep the visual hierarchy working properly.
Send me a PDF file to: jhannaford@comcast.net with "GD III accordian book" in the subject heading.
Your type should be handled carefully with the details thought through. See the Typography sections in your "Graphic Design Survival Guide" for excellent information about proper methods of handling type details.
Thursday, October 10:
Thursday's class will be a work day. Yes, I will be taking attendance.
